Q: Does DISC measure personality?
A: No
"If your assessment provider says DISC measures personality, it's probably time to get another assessment provider. S/he has just demonstrated their lack of understanding of DISC and other assessment tools". Dr. Michael Abelson, Ph.D.
The truth: DISC DOES NOT MEASURE PERSONALITY.
Personality is very complex and includes an individual's patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving. This includes emotions, morals, unique thoughts, attitude, temperament, cognition, values, character, beliefs and ethics.
Is DISC a test?
No, DISC is not a test. You cannot pass or fail DISC. There is no right or wrong and no good or bad. Sure, different behavioural styles have their own natural strengths and development opportunities, and it is a mature approach to acknowledge this. It is never a case though of "can or cannot do".
So, what does DISC measure?
DISC measures one’s unique behavioural style and preferences. This is indeed, very powerful. When you understand behavioural style, you can understand your own and others' behaviour significantly better. You can gain significant insights into yours and others' motivators, communication style, strengths and development opportunities.
